Residential care · Seven Sisters, South Wales

A home where every young person can thrive.

Alpha Residential Care is a single, dedicated home for children and young people with complex needs. Our care is therapeutic, consistent, and built around the young person, not the system.

Who we are

One home. Undivided focus.

Alpha Residential Care runs one children's home, Tŷ Bryn, in Seven Sisters, in the Dulais Valley near Neath. We chose to stay small on purpose. Tŷ Bryn is home to just two young people at a time, so every child is truly known: by name, by history, and by what makes them feel safe. Our team is never stretched thin across a dozen placements.

We provide nurturing residential care for children and young people with complex needs, in a setting that feels like a home rather than a unit. Our work is grounded in an understanding that behaviour is communication, and that trust is built slowly, through consistency and genuine relationships.

We work in partnership with local authorities, social workers and families across South Wales, and we welcome scrutiny. Our Care Inspectorate Wales reports are available on request.

Our story

Built on decades of experience.

Alpha Residential Care was founded by people who have spent their careers caring for children, with decades of combined experience across both private and charity-run homes, including services they have worked in and services they have run.

They started Alpha Residential Care to create something special: a single home, done properly, shaped by everything they have learned about what genuinely helps a young person settle, trust and grow, and what doesn't. Tŷ Bryn is the home they always wanted to be able to offer.

The team behind Alpha Residential Care
Our approach

Therapeutic care, grounded in relationships.

Every child arrives with a story. Our role is to understand it, and to build a daily life that is calm, predictable and warm enough for them to settle and grow.

01

Trauma-informed

We start from the question "what happened to you?", not "what is wrong with you?". Care plans are shaped around each young person's experiences, triggers and strengths.

02

Attachment & PACE

Playfulness, acceptance, curiosity and empathy guide how our staff respond day to day, building steady relationships that help a young person feel held and understood.

03

Behaviour as communication

We look for the need behind a behaviour and meet it proactively, teaching new ways to cope rather than relying on sanctions that rarely create lasting change.

04

Qualified, supported staff

Every member of our team is fully qualified and trained for their role, and looked after in turn, because consistent, skilled adults are what allow a young person to feel safe.

05

Education & routine

Structure, learning and ordinary daily rhythms give young people the predictability that so often was missing before they arrived.

06

Partnership

We keep social workers, families and professionals close, with honest updates and an open door for meetings and care planning.

The living room at Tŷ Bryn
The home

Tŷ Bryn, in the heart of the Dulais Valley.

Seven Sisters is a close-knit village surrounded by green hills. It's quiet, safe, and a world away from the chaos some of our young people have known. The home itself is set up for everyday family life: shared meals, space to relax, and room to be a child.

  • Home for two: Tŷ Bryn is set up for just two young people, so care is genuinely individual.
  • Small by design: one home means consistent adults and a genuine sense of belonging.
  • A real home: comfortable, personal spaces rather than an institutional setting.
  • Settled surroundings: a calm valley village with good links across Neath Port Talbot and Swansea.
  • Regulated & accountable: registered with Care Inspectorate Wales, with reports shared openly.

Who we care for

Children and young people with complex needs.

We care for young people whose needs can't be met by a standard placement: those who may have experienced trauma, disrupted attachments, or repeated placement breakdowns, and who need a setting prepared to stay alongside them.

That means we don't give up when things are hard. We plan for difficult days, we keep relationships steady through them, and we measure success in small, real steps: a young person who feels safe, who trusts an adult, who begins to imagine a future.

If you're a social worker or commissioner considering a placement, we're happy to talk through whether our home is the right fit, honestly, and with the young person's interests first.
